Presenter:

Dr. Nicholas Lamar Wright currently serves as the Director of Underserved Populations for the Human Development Institute at the University of Kentucky. They have been extensively involved within the Association and currently serve on the ACPA Leadership Council as the Chair of Racial Justice Strategies. Dr. Wright is described as a disability leader on campus, in community, and in the profession. Their career accomplishments and recent contributions to the field of higher education and disability include serving in Disability Services leadership at three institutions, currently serving on a leadership team for a University Center of Excellence in Disabilities, where they implement comprehensive diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility strategies for over 66 funded projects, totaling $33 million, and publishing 7 academic articles over the past year, four of which focused on disability-related issues such as equitable hiring practices in student affairs and the experience of Black and Latinx parents of children with Down Syndrome. Dr. Wright’s lived experience with a disability influences their work in student affairs. As a multiracial individual with a disability, they continuously work to advocate and promote knowledge surrounding accessibility.
