Through this webinar, you will learn how to develop performance rubrics assessing cultural humility and multicultural competencies. You will be guided in weaving these concepts in the personnel appraisal process through professional goal setting. Attendees will then leave this session with a plan to implement what you learned and a network of peers who can support you in bringing this practice to your organization for building inclusive capacity. Learning Outcomes:

As a result of participating in this webinar, attendees will:

  • be able to describe at least two examples of staff demonstrating cultural humility in a student affairs context,
  • be able to describe at least two examples of staff demonstrating multicultural competence in a student affairs context, and
  • identify a peer whom they can collaborate with after convention to continue building cultural humility and multicultural competence into performance appraisal processes. 

Presenters:

Dr. Dean Kennedy (he/him) has worked as a Student Affairs Educator for over 25 years, primarily working in housing and residential life programs at 10 schools across the U.S. He currently serves students as Interim Associate Vice President for Student Life Services and Executive Director of Residential Life, Housing and Food Services at the University of Nevada, Reno. He has worked with peers at multiple universities to center diversity, equity, inclusion, racial justice and decolonization in staff learning and practice while removing barriers and increasing access for students.
